The surface hardened layer, with a thickness of 0.01 to 0.03mm and an achievable Micro's hardness of HV550 to HV920 (depending on different materials), is called a bright white layer i.e.a Fe-n compound.
1. Powerful Abrasive Resistance
For medium-carbon steel, the abrasion resistance can outperform that of conventional quenching by 30 folds. For low-carbon steel, the abrasion resistance can outdo that of cemented quenching, ionic nitriding and plated hard chromium by 14, 2.8and 2.1 folds respectively.

2. Super Corrosion Resistance
In salt atmosphere, the corrosion resistance outperforms that of plated hard chromium, plated decorative chromium and stainless steel 1Cr18Ni9Ti by 70, 35 and 5 folds respectively.

3. Fatigue Resistance Improved by 40% or more.
